The goal here is to provide another “tool of the trade” to use in brief interventions with certain clients. Applications would include but not be limited to: helping the client to identify and describe emotions such as fear, frustration, excitement, enthusiasm; assisting the client to name “blocks” to success and to trace the origins of these blocks, thereby reducing their negative energy; guiding the client in the discernment process; encouraging the client to imagine new possibilities and outcomes and to work towards these goals; helping the client to prioritize, take action and evaluate; affirming the client’s hopes and dreams while re-enforcing his/her belief in self; encouraging the client to accept new positions of leadership or areas of professional or personal responsibility.
The course will involve: lectures, readings and discussions, sessions of Image Guidance conducted by both instructor and students; and evaluation of student transcripts.
TELE-COURSE: CREATING SACRED CONTEXT
Upcoming ICF credentialed tele-conference course offered through the Institute for Life Coach Training (ILCT) ; runs Wednesdays, October 5th-December 14th, 2016; 5:00-6:00 p.m. CT; $500.
This course introduces participants to some of the complexities involved in spiritually-based Life Coaching. What language and images does the coach use? Which archetypes and archetypal patterns best help the client approach scriptural narratives? How can the Life Coach avoid imposing his or her belief system on the client? What are some of the tools for assessing a client’s spiritual maturity? Is it appropriate to pray with a client, and, if so, what form should the prayer take? What does one do if the client is from a different faith tradition than one’s own? How does the Coach assess whether s/he is the right person to companion a particular client? These and other questions will provide the content of our explorations together!
