TELE-COURSE: CREATING SACRED CONTEXT
Tuesdays, October 17-November 28th, 2017; 4:00-5:30 p.m., Eastern Time
This course introduces participants to some of the complexities involved in spiritually-based Life Coaching. What language and images does the coach use?  Which archetypes and archetypal patterns best help the client approach scriptural narratives? How can the Life Coach avoid imposing his or her belief system on the client? What are some of the tools for assessing a client’s spiritual maturity? Is it appropriate to pray with a client, and, if so, what form should the prayer take? What does one do if the client is from a different faith tradition than one’s own? How does the Coach assess whether s/he is the right person to companion a particular client? These and other questions will provide the content of our explorations together!

TELE-COURSE: WAYS OF SACRED LISTENING

Tuesdays, January 16th- February 27th,2018; 6:00-7:30 p.m., Eastern Time

Ways of Sacred Listening  is based on 1) spiritual principles 2) a belief in the sacred and 3) prayerful discernment and goal setting. Drawing on the best of Spiritual Direction practices and Life Coaching techniques, the course is designed for those who already have training and experience in the “helping professions,” but who wish to add a strong spiritual foundation to the work they are currently doing. Trained in the art of sacred listening, for example, spiritual directors may want to shift into a more active relationship with clients; this may include helping the client with articulating needs, setting goals, and identifying those skills and capacities they either already have or need to develop to accomplish their goals. Life coaches, on the other hand, accustomed to helping clients meet both internal and external goals, may feel drawn to include an explicitly spiritual framework to some or all of their coaching sessions. This course, then, offers new ways of combining  Spiritual Direction with  Life Coaching.

Please note: This course is only offered once a year.

Upcoming ICF credentialed tele-conference course in Image Guidance for Life Coaches: TBA

Offered in association with the Institute for Life Coach Training (ILCT) and ICF approved for ten CEU’S, this course is designed specifically for Life Coaches/ Spiritual Directors. The goal here is to provide another “tool of the trade” to use in brief interventions with certain clients. Applications would include but not be limited to: helping the client to identify and describe emotions such as fear, frustration, excitement, enthusiasm; assisting the client to name “blocks” to success and to trace the origins of these blocks, thereby reducing their negative energy; guiding the client in the discernment process; encouraging the client to imagine new possibilities and outcomes and to work towards these goals; helping the client to prioritize, take action and evaluate; affirming the client’s hopes and dreams while re-enforcing his/her belief in self; encouraging the client to accept new positions of leadership or areas of professional or personal responsibility.

The course will involve: lectures, readings and discussions, sessions of Image Guidance conducted by both instructor and students; and evaluation of student transcripts.
